Vibrant new HR team at RPC Astrapak
Most companies consist of multiple teams, but in every company, there should be one team that runs smoother than silk. This team is HR. Human Resources is an incredibly important element of our company as RPC Astrapak HR Executive, Futhi Buthelezi explains. “An effective HR team is the main way to make the company successful.” She believes that companies should pay the utmost attention to this function, as they help “to raise the level of engagement”. “People are the most important resource that we have – they are our differentiating factor.” In saying this, RPC Astrapak welcomes three new incredible women to our HR team.
Khethiwe Bhengu, born and raised in Durban, has joined us as the Regional HR Manager. Although she left Durban in 2008 to go to Johannesburg, we are overjoyed she has returned to Durban in January this year to join our team. She has had the privilege of working with brands such as Shell and Nestle where she worked for eight years as their HR Business Partner. Khethiwe’s favourite part of working in HR is watching and helping people grow in their job, which in turn allows the business to grow. She loves impacting the lives of the other employees and we cannot wait to see the difference she will make here at RPC Astrapak. Khethiwe loves reading and travelling, and has made herself a bucket list of places to travel, including the Wild Coast in the Eastern Cape. We know that with all her hard work she deserves to tick off all the places she wishes to go.
Sinenhlanhla “Sne” Mhlungu was also born and raised in Durban and has joined us as Group HR Administrator in November 2017. She remained in Durban joining Afripack straight out of school as an intern. Sne was with this company for seven years, starting as an HR assistant and with a few promotions rose to Senior HR Officer. Sne was attracted to RPC Astrapak, as she knew her skill could assist in improving the company as well as the HR team. Sne loves developing people and making sure that they are happy in their environment so they can spread positive feedback to others, making their place of work seem like somewhere others would like to work. We cannot wait for Sne to use her skills to help guide our company into a place where everyone is happy in their environment. Sne uses exercise to clear her mind so she is mentally and physically ready to tackle the next day. She is also a ‘favourite aunt’ to her nephews and nieces, whom she enjoys spending her free time with.
Last but not least we have Nomvelo Ncube who has joined us as our Group Training and Development Manager in September 2017. Born in Johannesburg Nomvelo started the first few years of her life in the city of gold until she moved to KwaZulu-Natal in grade five. Nomvelo worked for eight years for Tongaat Hulett as their Learning and Organisational Development Specialist. Nomvelo is inspired by the type of work that we do here at RPC Astrapak. She believes that by going back to basics, she will be able to source different capabilities and strengths that will fit into the pipeline. It is the type of work that excites and inspires her. She loves developing people and identifying talent in employees, and believes that talent is the key focus and driving force behind long standing business objectives. We know that she will thrive in the work place because with her experience and vision she will do great things. Nomvelo has two boys, twins and they tend to keep her hands full, but when her hands are free she enjoys sewing and woodwork – creating things out of pallets such as small drawers.
We certainly have three incredible women in our midst who join our HR Executive Futhi who has in a short time become the anchor of the HR team. We look forward to what this powerful and dynamic team has in store for us.
